ORiS Selected by NATO's DIANA to Bring Wireless Power to Defence

ORiS has been selected as an innovator by NATO DIANA (Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic), the Alliance's programme for accelerating dual-use deep tech technologies that serve both civilian and defence needs. The recognition was highlighted by Il Sole 24 Ore, which featured ORiS among the Italian companies chosen by the programme.
Launched at NATO's 2023 Madrid summit, DIANA backs emerging technologies with a €1 billion, 15-year fund, opening access to test centres and defence tenders for smaller innovators. ORiS received an initial grant through the programme and, as Co-Founder Domenico Sfasciamuro noted in the article, joined a highly selective cohort.
For ORiS, the defence relevance is clear. Drones are designed for endurance but limited by energy: they must return to base to recharge, capping range and time on mission. Our ground-based laser emitter can recharge drones in flight through a stealthy, jamming-resistant optical link with no radio signature turning power from a constraint into an operational advantage.
Being selected by NATO DIANA is a strong external signal that wireless power is not just a space story, but a capability with real-world defence value.
